At the EA Sports Season Opener press event in San Francisco today, Electronic Arts revealed that it will be completely revamping its EA Sports Active fitness design for Wii, and also bringing the series to the PlayStation 3, iPhone, and iPod Touch.

EA Sports Active 2.0 for Wii and PlayStation 3 will utilize new wireless pods that sync up to the systems via a USB dongle. The Wii version will utilize two pods: one for the leg, one for the arm; the PlayStation 3 edition will feature three pods: one for the leg, and one for each arm. Each pod features a motion-sensing accelerometer that recognizes when your limbs are in motion during exercise.

Additionally, the arm pod on Wii and PS3 features a heart rate monitor, keeping tabs of your heart beat as you exert yourself during exercise and representing that data in-game.

EA Sports Active 2.0 will also feature online connectivity so that you can upload your workout data to EA’s servers and share that data with friends and workout partners.

No price was revealed. No more Nunchuks getting in the way of your squats. It will be available this Fall.
