Gray Matter, one of the most anticipated upcoming adventure games, will also be released on the Xbox 360 game and entertainment system from Microsoft. This was confirmed today by Hamburg/Germany based publisher dtp entertainment at a press conference in Oxford/UK.

The Xbox 360 version of Gray Matter will be released simultaneously with the PC version in Q4 2010. The game’s control system has been adjusted to fit the console’s requirements – other than that, Gray Matter’s PC and Xbox 360 versions are absolutely identical.

Gray Matter author and adventure game veteran Jane Jensen is happy to see Gray Matter coming to the Xbox 360: “With the Xbox 360 release, Gray Matter can reach a broader audience, especially people who don’t play PC games very often. I’m very excited to see Gray Matter expanding to other platforms” , she said.

Gray Matter will be the first new full-size adventure game by the famous adventure author since the release of Gabriel Knight 3. Staying true to the Jensen-style, the story interweaves gruesome incidents and supernatural events.

Neurobiologist Dr. David Styles is one of the main characters in the game. Ever since losing his wife in a terrible car accident many years ago, he has become a recluse, leaving his English mansion Dread Hill House only on rare occasions.

Vagabond and street artist Samantha Everett shows up on his doorstep unexpectedly, at a time when Styles just happens to be looking for a new assistant. Originally from America, she has been travelling Europe for the last few years, and is in desperate need of a job and place of refuge. Her first assignment involves finding six volunteers for an experiment planned by Dr. Styles at Oxford University.

The experiment begins harmlessly enough, but soon strange things start happening. Styles is visited by his beloved, but deceased wife. Now it is up to Sam to solve the mysteries of Dread Hill House.

In Gray Matter, the player takes control of Dr. David Styles as well as Samantha Everett as they are trying to unveil secrets and find the truth.

April 29, 2010 - Porting titles onto the PSP is always a challenge for EA Sports. They constantly struggle to differentiate the product enough from its console counterparts, while maintaining a very low ceiling for development costs. So here we have 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, a game that makes very little attempt at separating its feature set from the console versions. Instead, 2010 FIFA tries to emulate what’s seen on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Its attempt is admirable, but ultimately falls short of delivering a similar gameplay experience.

Just about every mode (aside from Battle of Nations online) from the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 version of 2010 FIFA World Cup is aptly represented here. There’s the standard World Cup tournament, Captain Your Country, the new Story of Qualifying mode, and support for both infrastructure and ad hoc online play. Everything performs exactly how you’d expect. The World Cup lets you play through the real tournament with any international squad you’d like. Captain Your Country is a career mode where you take the reins of one player and carry them through the tournament, progressing their attributes along the way. Story of Qualifying allows you to progress through a list of challenges that are pulled straight from the real round of qualifying. If your favorite team had a dramatic match, chances are it’s represented there.

The gameplay is the only thing that’s really lacking in the package, and sadly that’s the most important aspect of any sports title. No matter what mode you’re playing, you’ll notice that the game runs at a very slow clip. The in-game players don’t feel like professional athletes. Not only that, but their artificial intelligence (AI) is seriously lacking. This is most evident in Captain Your Country, when most of the on-field action is left to the AI. Too often will players not make aggressive plays for balls close to them and sometimes they’ll just ignore your order to pass or shoot the ball.

Other gameplay problems pop up when you try and utilize the new corner kicking system. For some reason, the direction you push the analog stick no longer dictates the direction that you’re kicking. Instead, it changes the direction of the spin. That means if you push up and to the left, you’re actually going to be kicking a ball that will bend to the right. The system isn’t very intuitive (especially since there’s no tutorial) and the camera has trouble switching the corner kick camera angle back to the standard viewpoint which causes an unneeded moment of disorientation.

2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa also lacks some of the presentational changes that made the console version so special when it came to delivering an authentic feel to the biggest sporting event on the planet. The commentators are acceptable, but suffer from the usual loading times that come with the UMD format. The crowds are loud enough, but the fact that all you get is a little confetti during introductions is a bit of a disappointment.

Graphically the game is also a bit of a disappointment with player models that don’t show off much detail unless the camera is six inches from their face. Their animations are also a bit jittery as they make their way up the field. The fact that they’re constrained to eight directions of movement is totally acceptable given the limitations of the hardware, and players seemed to be able to curve their runs ever so slightly — which is more than I can say for the Wii version. Still, the strange jerkiness of the animations and the general lack of overall detail are the real detractors.

Speaking on the latest Official PlayStation Magazine UK podcast, Editor-In-Chief Ben Wilson has hinted that a new open-world game is coming that will grant players the ability to create their own missions for others to download and play. When discussing GTA and where that particular franchise might go next, Ben states:

“There is another game that we can’t talk about – I’d love to – that we know where it’s an open-world game that’s coming out this year. Everyone’s looking at me confused – this is genuinely true, I’m not making this up. Basically it’s an open-world game where people will be able to design their own missions online and share them.”

We’re not sure what it is, but with LittleBIGPlanet enabling players to create their own platforming levels, and ModNation Racers gifting budding track-designers the chance to dream up some wondrous racing scenarios, is it any surprise that Sony might take the “Play. Create. Share.” mantra to the next level with user-generated adventures in a sandbox title?

The fact that it’s due out this year and we’ve heard nothing about it until now is also both equally suspect and remarkable. Expect to hear more about this one in the future, folks. We’re already putting the feelers out to see what we can find.

It looks like Ubisoft themselves are preparing for the inevitable release of Splinter Cell: Conviction on the PS3. You know, the console the game is definitely not coming to.

It looks like Ubisoft themselves are preparing for the inevitable release of Splinter Cell: Conviction on the PS3. You know, the console the game is definitely not coming to.

The new smoking gun? An eagle-eyed (and possibly disgruntled) consumer who has spotted the game’s listing over at Ubisoft’s support centre. Check it out for yourself, you’ll clearly see Splinter Cell: Conviction quoted as a game Ubisoft’s support staff are just itching to answer your queries on. Like, “What’s the game’s PS3 release date?”

Alas, though the support site is quite comprehensive in mitigating most of your gaming woes, the option “Microsoft stole my childhood” is not available in the drop-down menu of known issues.

Amanda Flowers is twenty-four years old and fell when using the Wii Fit balance board. This accident caused nerve damage. And what is more, the damaged nerve resulted in persistent sexual arousal syndrome. The woman, who is single, now becomes sexually aroused from subtle noises or vibrations such as mobile phones and claims that it now takes 10+ sexual sessions each day to bring relief to her condition.

Persistent sexual arousal syndrome is verified to be caused by the nerve damage or as a side effect to certain drugs. Unlike nymphomania or hypersexuality, Persistent sexual arousal syndrome is a spontaneous condition of the genitals that is most often not linked to sexual desire. Persistent sexual arousal syndrome and nymphomania are not related conditions. Treatment for the condition is available and may include the use of medication, psychotherapy, or surgery. The condition most typically occurs in post menopausal women. There is no actual cure for the PSAS.

As a caterer, Flowers has described her symptoms as a “twinge down below” that is soon followed by a “trembling orgasm”.

Internet petitions against Nintendo have surfaced to gain awareness of injuries that can occur using the system.

However, many people suspect that Amanda Flowers is unlikely to sue over Nintendo Wii Fit.

There are 21 new exercises for all your muscles, including yoga, cycling and snow ball fights. To check your progress, you can have the game calculate the amount of calories you spent.

Bungie has revealed to 1UP four new modes that will feature in Halo: Reach's multiplayer beta when it launches on 3rd May. The modes are Headhunter, Stockpile, Generator Defence and Invasion.

Bungie has revealed to 1UP four new modes that will feature in Halo: Reach’s multiplayer beta when it launches on 3rd May. The modes are Headhunter, Stockpile, Generator Defence and Invasion.

Headhunter is a free-for-all “party” game in which players collect skulls from defeated opponents and have to carry them back to a moving deposit zone to score. You can carry multiple skulls, but if you’re killed before scoring you drop them; other players can see how many you have, and if you have more than ten, you get a flashing star over your head, marking you as a prime target.

Stockpile is a team game that “is sort of like Territories meets with Capture the Flag,” according to Bungie. Neutral flags appear randomly across the map and teams have to return them to their respective capture points. The twist is that you’ll only score once a timer counts down every 60 seconds, at which point any flag in the capture zone - even if carried by an opponent - will be added to the score.

Generator Defence is the experimental mode Bungie has previously called Network Test 1, designed specifically to work on the asymmetrical Overlook map. In this game, three Elites try to destroy three generators defended by three Spartans. In the second of two five-minute rounds, the teams switch. Power weapons are dropped in randomly over the course of the match.

Bungie didn’t say much about Invasion, other than that it’s “a vehicle-full frenzy” on the giant new Boneyard map, and pits two teams of six against each other. Both Invasion and Generator Defence will enjoy special Load Out configurations for players to use.

You can read more about the Halo: Reach multiplayer’s maps, abilities, ranking and matchmaking elsewhere on the site, and expect full impressions of the beta just ahead of its launch on 3rd May. Not long now!

In February, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 retook the lead in NPD Group’s monthly U.S. game-console sales report. That didn’t last long – in March, the Nintendo Wii outsold the Xbox 360 by more than 200,000 units.

NPD on Thursday reported that 557,500 Wiis were sold in March. Meanwhile, 338,400 Xbox 360s and 313,900 Sony PlayStation 3s sold during the same period – plus 118,300 PlayStation 2s.

Industry-wide, game hardware sales dropped 4 percent year over year, from $457.1 million a year ago to $440.5 million last month. For the year to date, hardware sales were down 15 percent and game sales decreased by 7 percent compared to the same period in 2009, according to NPD.

March sales of software, accessories and games, however, all rose significantly year over year. The industry saw $1.52 billion in video game sales during March 2010 – 6 percent more than $1.44 billion in March 2009, NPD reported. Software sales rose 10 percent and accessory sales rose 11 percent.

1) Sexalities – Mortal Kombat Series

How do you make an immature, preteen-targeted fighting game even more puerile and adolescent? Gratuitous sex, that’s how! While there never were any “sexalities” in any Mortal Kombat game, at the time it was easy to assume there were. The series had every other type of fatality known to man (Friendship, Babality, Animality), the MK games weren’t known to shy away from exploitative elements, and many of the most rewarding secrets were ruthlessly difficult to unlock (anyone remember how to find Reptile in the original Mortal Kombat?).

However, MK creators Ed Boon and John Tobias were evidently not willing to piss off America’s parents that much, as no sexuality has ever existed in any Mortal Kombat game.

2) The Triforce – The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

One of the few rumors that didn’t require word of mouth to become universally circulated, the potential presence of the all-powerful Triforce in Zelda 64 still irritates some gamers to this day. Even if the above screenshot (taken from a beta version of the game) had not been released months prior to Ocarina hitting shelves, fans still would have torn the game world apart searching for that golden triangle.

And who can blame them? Every preceding Zelda game included the Triforce, and Ocarina marks the first time we find out about its third piece. If anything, Ocarina should have been THE game to include the Triforce. But, alas, its presence in the game is merely symbolic: Link contains the Triforce of Courage within himself, Zelda the Triforce of Wisdom, and Ganondorf the Triforce of power. So while you technically have the Triforce all along, you never get to unite its pieces or keep it as an inventory item. Tough luck!

3) Lara Croft Nude Code – Every Tomb Raider game since the series’ inception

It may be hard, but try to remember the time when the 32-bit sprite of a buxom Indiana Jones ripoff was the most attractive virtual woman the world had ever seen. In an age of Dead or Alive Volleyball and Rumble Roses XXXXXXXXVIXXX, it may be difficult to comprehend—but that doesn’t make it any less true.

It didn’t take much to incite a worldwide search for the elusive Lara Croft nude code. Just a consistently half-dressed hero, some bored nerds, and an innuendo-laden line whose implications got taken a bit too far: after the tutorial (which requires Lara to swim underwater), Lara says something along the lines of, “Now to get out of these wet clothes…”

Of course, there was no way to see this promised scene of polygonal nudity (we’re talking the pre-Hot Coffee era), but its possible existence made it one of the most sought-after, most widely-rumored game secrets of all time. It got to the point where the developers had to issue a public statement denying the existence of any nude code. But still, hell hath no fury like a nerd cockteased.

4) Aeris Resurrection – Final Fantasy VII

Ah, the death of Aeris. Has any moment in video game history ever come as close to the shock, the pathos, the sheer tragedy of the moment Sephiroth ran her through with his sword? It’s a debatable subject, but it says something that since the game’s release a decade ago, fans are still searching for a way to resurrect the lonely flower girl.

And to be honest, it’s still unknown whether or not this rumor is actually false. While it’s definitely impossible to resurrect Aeris in any “official” version of the game, there is quite a lot of evidence to suggest that, at one point in FFVII’s development, it may have been a possibility: there’s a lot of unused maps on the later game discs, Aeris is capable of earning an Ultimate Limit Break, you have to make a bunch of decisions concerning whether you prefer Aeris or Tifa, Aeris’s ghost is visible in the Midgar church after her death…while the development team has frequently denied these rumors, there remains an unusually large amount of evidence to support them.

5) Dam Island, Ourumov’s Briefcase, and Sean Connery – Goldeneye 64

Ah, Goldeneye 64. A decade-old, movie-license game that still manages to remain one of the greatest first person shooters of all time. Not to mention, one of the most myth-laden.

There are several myths surrounding Goldeneye, from the Dam Island to Ourumov’s briefcase, to Sean Connery’s presence as a multiplayer character. And while these myths sparked endlessly entertaining debates during the peak of Goldeneye’s popularity, they can all be explained very, very easily:

The developers got lazy.

The Dam(n) Island was supposed to be accessible by boat in the first level, until the designers decided it would be too much trouble to implement a boat. They scrapped that part of the mission, but left the island there anyway. Ourumov’s briefcase (found in the Silo level) was supposed to contain a key that unlocked a door later in the level, but the door was also left out. Same deal with Sean Connery, and all the other “classic” bond characters that didn’t make it into the multiplayer mode: while they existed in the beta stages, they didn’t make it to the final game (whether due to likeness rights or time constraints is unknown).

Still, though, it’s not as if Goldeneye doesn’t stand in its own two feet without these extra little easter eggs.

6) Sheng Long - Street Fighter II

Nothing was more profitable for an arcade game manufacturer than the promise of hidden secrets that could only be unlocked after extremely difficult, labor-intensive play. It’s why Reptile was so hard to find in Mortal Kombat, and it’s why Capcom refused to admit that the character Sheng Long could never be found in Street Fighter II.

The rumor originated in EGM magazine as an April Fool’s Joke gone mad: Ryu’s victory quote was, “You must defeat Sheng Long to stand a chance.” The quote referred not to an alternate character, but was simply a mistranslation of “shoryuken”; however, that didn’t stop EGM from creating a fake columnist (W. A. Stokins) with fake tips on how to unlock Sheng Long. Ostensibly, one would have to suffer no damage throughout the entire game, and spend ten consecutive matches with M. Bison without touching him or taking any damage. After the timer ran out on the tenth match, the uber-powerful Sheng Long was supposed to appear and kick Bison offscreen, at which point you would fight him and evidently unlock him as a playable character.

Insanely, a hell of a lot of gamers attempted to perform the required actions to unlock Sheng: EGM didn’t expose the lie for a while because it gave them an opportunity to see which competitors would reprint it without permission, and Capcom didn’t expose it because they were making a shitload of money from overzealous Sheng Long-seekers. In the end, everybody won!
